About the Film:

Directed by Claude Miller. France, 2012, 110 mins. French with English subtitles. Hawai‘i premiere

Based on François Mauriac’s legendary 1927 novel, the final film by French master director Claude Miller tells the story of Thérèse Desqueyroux (the ever luminous Audrey Tautou), a free-spirited heroine suffocated by a provincial marriage and yearning in vain to escape to a bohemian life in Jazz-Age Paris. When Thérèse's best friend, Anne, falls madly in love with a handsome young Portuguese man, she begins to see what she has been missing and starts to wage a shocking fight against her husband’s oppressive family.
