Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. 2017. India. 123 min. Hindi with English subtitles.
Looking to escape her mundane life in the small town of Bareilly, only daughter Bitti (Kriti Sanon) runs away. Before she gets too far, she stumbles upon a novel called “Bareilly Ki Barfi” and is surprised to find that the female protagonist is exactly like her. Believing herself in love, Bitti embarks on a quest to find the author, Pritam Vidrohi (the scene-stealing Rajkummar Rao), with the help of the local printing press-owner Chirag Dubey (Ayushmann Khurrana, Shubh Mangal Savdhan). This crowd-pleasing journey of love takes a break from the usual Bollywood stock to create a sweet story with uniquely real characters.
